Nolina (lat. Nolina) or Beaucarnea (Beaucarnea) — belongs to the Asparagus family, Nolinoideae subfamily. This amazing tropical perennial comes to us from distant Mexico. In the wild, it can reach 7–8 m; at home, it typically stays around 2 m tall. The leaves are long, lanceolate, gathered at the crown and luxuriously hanging in different directions, like a woman's hairstyle. The unusual trunk looks like a bottle, which is why it is often called the bottle tree. Over time, moisture accumulates at the base of the trunk, allowing Nolina to withstand long periods of drought.
