Hotel and Hospital Delivery

Delivering flowers or gifts to a hotel, hospital, or medical facility is not the same as leaving a package at a front door. These locations may have their own schedules, internal procedures, privacy rules, and delivery restrictions.

Before placing an order, we recommend checking whether the location can accept flowers, gifts, or courier deliveries. It is also important to make sure the recipient information is complete. A missing room number, department, or reservation name may prevent the location from accepting the delivery.

Hotel Delivery

Permission to Deliver

Hotels handle outside deliveries differently. Some accept flowers and gifts at reception without any issue. Others may have internal policies, guest privacy rules, or security procedures that prevent them from accepting outside deliveries.

If the hotel reception refuses the delivery, the courier may not be able to complete the handoff. The courier can only leave the order with the hotel if the hotel agrees to receive it.

This can happen in different countries and locations, especially where hotels follow stricter guest privacy or security procedures. For surprise deliveries, a quick check with the hotel before ordering can help prevent delivery problems later.

Recipient Information

Hotel staff usually work from their reservation system. For the courier to hand off the order successfully, the details provided in the order should match the information available at reception. Please include:

  • room number;
  • name on the reservation;
  • hotel name;
  • full hotel address;
  • recipient's local phone number, if available.

If the room number or reservation name is missing, the hotel may not be able to verify the guest. In that case, the delivery may not be completed, and the order may be returned to the florist.

Re-delivery and Pickup

If the room number or phone number is missing and the recipient cannot be reached, the courier may return the order to the florist until the missing details are confirmed. Re-delivery may require:

  • the missing information;
  • confirmation of the room number or reservation name;
  • payment of the re-delivery fee.

In some situations, the recipient may also be able to pick up the order directly from the florist, depending on the location and product type.

Hospital Delivery

Permission to Deliver

Hospital and medical facility policies on outside deliveries vary widely. Some facilities accept flowers only at the main reception desk. Others may not allow flowers at all because of infection control, department-specific rules, or patient safety policies.

We recommend checking with the facility before placing the order to confirm what is allowed. If the delivery is refused on arrival, the courier may not be able to complete the delivery.

In many healthcare settings, couriers are not permitted to enter patient rooms or wards. This may apply regardless of who is delivering the order or what is being delivered.

Recipient Information

Large hospitals can be difficult to navigate. Multiple buildings, departments, reception points, and patient areas mean that a general address is often not enough. The order needs to specify where the delivery should go. Please include:

  • hospital name;
  • department or ward name, for example surgery or cardiology;
  • room number, if available;
  • patient's full name;
  • local phone number, if available.

Without these details, the courier may not be able to find the correct reception point, and the order may not reach the recipient on time.

Re-delivery and Pickup

Hospital deliveries may fail for reasons unrelated to the courier. The patient may have been discharged, moved to a different ward, or may not be registered under the name provided in the order.

If reception cannot confirm the patient and no one can be reached by phone, the courier may return the order to the florist. Re-delivery may be arranged once:

  • the correct ward or department is confirmed;
  • the room number is confirmed, if available;
  • the patient's full name is verified;
  • the re-delivery fee is paid.

Pickup from the florist may be possible in some locations.

Delivery During Siesta Hours

What Is Siesta?

A siesta is an afternoon break traditional to some parts of Southern Europe. It may affect local business hours in countries such as Spain, Italy, Greece, and Cyprus.

Not every florist, city, or region follows the same schedule. In areas where an afternoon break is observed, it may affect florist availability, product preparation, and delivery timing.

How Delivery Works

In regions where siesta or midday closing hours are common, deliveries follow the florist's actual working hours and local courier availability.

Some florists may divide their day into morning and evening delivery periods. Others may have shorter or more flexible working hours depending on the city, workload, season, and local customs.

Same-day delivery may still be available in some cities, including later in the day, but availability depends on the local florist, product, address, and order time.

Availability and Timing

Flower availability can also affect delivery timing. In some locations, certain flowers arrive at the shop later in the day. If that happens, morning delivery may not be available, even if the order was placed in advance.

Since we aim to send fresh flowers, delivery timing may follow the florist's supply schedule.

Add-ons can also affect timing. If the order includes sweets, balloons, or other extras that are not immediately available, the florist may need additional time to source them. This can shift delivery to a later time.

Many partner shops in these regions are small local businesses. Their schedules may be less flexible during local holidays, peak dates, or unusually busy periods.

Before You Place the Order

A few checks before checkout can prevent most problems with hotel and hospital deliveries. Please confirm:

  • the hotel or facility accepts flowers, gifts, or courier deliveries;
  • the recipient's full name is correct;
  • the room number, department, or reservation name is included;
  • the local phone number is valid and written in international format;
  • the address is complete;
  • any access restrictions are noted in the order comments.

Missing details can result in delayed delivery, a returned order, or an additional re-delivery charge.

Hotel and hospital deliveries follow the same general framework as all other orders, with a few additional requirements.

The main Delivery Terms page explains delivery timing, address rules, substitutions, and general failed delivery scenarios.
